Our Story

The Philippine business landscape is primarily composed of 99.5% micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that drive 40% of the country's growth in gross domestic product (GDP) and employ 63% of the local workforce. Despite their crucial role, these businesses often struggle to access essential financial resources. This is where Investree Philippines comes in, which started in 2020 to bridge this gap.

With a permanent license from the Securities and Exchange Commission, we became the country’s first crowdfunding platform. Committed to empowering MSMEs, we connect them with investors who believe in their potential and provides them access to their much-needed capital. As of 2023, our platform has supported over 180 businesses and funded more than 800 applications across various industries. Since our inception, we have seen countless success stories of entrepreneurs who have expanded their businesses, created jobs, and ultimately contributed to the growth of our economy.

Our Leadership Team

Kok Chuan Lim

Co-Founder & CEO

KC has 21 years of banking experience ranging from capital and treasury market solutions to private financing origination. His most recent position was in FICC sales for Goldman Sachs in Southeast Asia. He is a CFA charterholder and an NTU Singapore graduate. KC is a co-founder of Investree Indonesia and splits his time between Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Alexander Capulong

Country Manager

Alex has outstanding experience in building early-stage startups from scratch and scaling late-stage startups internationally. He is an expert in business development, operations design, organizational development, customer service, market research, recruitment, partnerships, and more. With his unwavering expertise, he had built out divisions and set up complicated projects with many external stakeholders.

Chai Obispo

Vice President for Sales

Chai has over 20 years of sales experience in the fintech industry. As a seasoned sales professional, Chai knows that the heart and soul of a business lies in maintaining exceptional customer relationships. Chai believes that running a growing start-up requires an emphasis on innovation, employee culture, and stakeholder management.

Sophia Baesa

Vice President for Risk

Pia has worked in risk management for a wide range of financial institutions over the course of her more than 15 years of professional experience. She used to work for the Asian Development Bank, where her primary focus was on end-to-end enterprise risk management. Her commitments included the building and management of risk models.

Mark Macawile

Vice President for Operations

Mark has a diverse operational and engineering background, as well as an MS in Innovation and Business from the Asian Institute of Management. Project management, agile work, business process re-engineering, and strategic planning are among his areas of expertise. Mark worked with financial institution conglomerates, focusing on major projects and innovations.

Steve Torrefranca

Vice President for Product & Technology

Steve is a seasoned tech leader with over two decades of diverse expertise and extensive background in elevating both startups and established enterprises, playing a pivotal role in architecting, implementing, and refining cloud-based solutions. His expertise extends across diverse cloud services, encompassing infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS), reflecting his deep proficiency in optimizing technological landscapes for maximum efficiency and innovation.
